It’s March, and things are starting to get a little exciting. While some people have started to receive their offers, others are just submitting – or starting to think about submitting – their applications. Wherever you are in the application process, there are still lots of deadlines you need to be mindful of.
May 29: The last day which all Ontario secondary students can expect a response from York. The response will either be an offer of admission, a rejection or a deferral pending the receipt of specific additional information. Other applicants will continue to receive offers beyond this date.
June 1: Deadline for international students to submit their applications to the OUAC (for programs other than Fine Arts [Design & Film BFA], Social Work, Nursing and the Schulich School of Business), and the deadline for all new students to apply for a guaranteed spot in residence. You are still able to apply for housing after the deadline, but your spot will no longer be guaranteed. This is also the deadline for all Ontario high-school students to accept their offers through the OUAC.
June 30: Recommended deadline to apply for OSAP for fall/winter 2012 funding. Students are able to apply for OSAP until 90 days after starting studies, but if you apply after the recommended deadline you may not receive your funding in time for the tuition deadline in September.
July 1: Deadline for visiting students to apply to the Schulich School of Business.
July 15: Deadline for transfer students to submit their applications for programs other than Fine Arts (Design & Film BFA), Social Work, Nursing and the Schulich School of Business.
August 15: Deadline for out-of-province Canadian high-school students and mature students to submit their applications for programs other than Fine Arts (Design & Film BFA), Social Work, Nursing and the Schulich School of Business.
Some of these deadlines might seem far off, but that doesn’t mean you don’t need to keep them in mind. If possible, you should also try to check out the Spring Open House at Keele on March 31. It’s an awesome opportunity to speak with current students, faculty and staff as well as receive information about life at York and check out campus a little.
