Journey to the Centre of York

A GIF of the Rainbow Flag, otherwise known as the LGBTQ+ flag, waving in the wind.

Pride Week starts tomorrow and it’s an important (and fun) cause to be a part of as it celebrates and brings attention to the diversity in the LGBTQ+ community. This year, the events will be proceeding on a scale never before seen as Toronto is this years host of World Pride. Previously around 1 million people would come to Toronto for Pride and this year estimates about 5 times that number!

Below you will find the main events that the York community is hosting and participating in.

Monday, June 23

12:00-4:00pm in Vari Hall – Help decorate the York float banners by personalizing your own flags and t-shirts! Working with artist Francisco-Fernando Granados, you are invited to re-imagine the colours of the flags by coming up with your own combinations. The flags will be collected and put together to make a community banner which will be seen by millions on the parade route.

4:00-7:00pm with TBLGAY in 449A Student Centre – Join TBLGAY for a Pre-Pride Potluck Social. Mmmm…potluck.

Tuesday, June 24
