As a student, you have a lot going on each day. You’re balancing classes and assignments with your involvement in student clubs, family commitments and maybe a part-time job. If you’re graduating from high school this year, you’re also juggling university applications! With so much to focus on, you want to make sure you don’t miss important York U communications. Today on the YU Blog, find out how you can connect with us to make sure you never miss an update.
On the web
Find York U information online by visiting our websites for current and future York U students. Remember, the Current Students website is temporarily hosting a directory of back-to-school service locations. You will be able to navigate to all student services websites from the Current Students landing page, so take a look to see if you can complete your start-of-term tasks online. It’s the busiest time of year for Registrarial Services, so save time by accessing many self-serve tools on the My Online Services webpage.
Much of the communication you receive, including from the Registrar’s Office and Student Financial Services, will come by email. You may receive email about your enrolment and registration status, class and course cancellations, student financial account updates, academic decisions and most importantly, deadlines! York will only send email to your “preferred email address” listed on your my.yorku.ca account, so make sure your information is up-to-date.
If you’re a future York U student, keep an eye on your email for updates regarding next steps in your application, upcoming events, your application status and tips for preparing for university.
Get York U updates instantly by following us on social media! You can connect with us on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. York often posts event updates and information about student life on social media as well as important deadline reminders, so it’s a great way to stay up-to-date with what’s happening on campus.
Read the YU Blog
The YU Blog is written by students, for students, and it’s a great place for York U Lions to find out about events on campus, academic resources and everything to do with campus life! We bring you the student perspective on York University every Tuesday and Thursday morning, as well as stories, tips, insights and more than a few good photos.
Yes, York U does still occasionally use mail to communicate! Students may receive mail from Admissions, Recruitment, your Faculty or your College regarding enrolment, academic information or event invitations. Make sure that your mailing address is up-to-date on my.yorku.ca to ensure that you never miss a letter.
In person or by phone
The beginning of the Fall term is the busiest time of year for Registrarial Services, and there will be lineups. Beat the lines by using the following online services:
- Get your Passport York account (Computing Services)
- Find your advising office (for enrolment and course selection help)
- Make a tuition payment — pay online or through telephone banking
- Contact the National Student Loans Services Centre
- Search for courses, add/drop courses or plot your class timetable
Visit Registrarial Services on the main floor of the Bennett Centre for Student Services at 99 Ian Macdonald Boulevard if you have questions about your Student Account, financial aid, OSAP, enrollment letter, CPP letter or transcript pick-up, academic accommodations or counselling and support. Check the hours of operation on the Registrarial Services website if you plan to visit in person. You can also speak with a representative over the phone by calling 416-872-YORK (9675).
If you have specific questions about your Faculty or programs, contact your Faculty Advising Office. Registrarial Services cannot help with issues that relate to your program and degree requirements, understanding your academic standing, Faculty legislation and policies or the petition process.
Remember, York U administrative and support services are here to help and we would love to hear from you.
